Biography
Lori has a Master's degree in Counseling, as well as a Master's degree in Nursing (East Carolina University), is a Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Florida, and has certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Genetics. She has 25 years' experience in prenatal genetics nursing, working as an affiliate with Gene Care Medical Genetics since 1995. Previously, she worked as a genetics nurse in Miami, Florida, as well as as the Assisted Reproductive Technology program coordinator for the Fertility and IVF Center of Miami. In 2005, she has worked at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in the Nursing Department, first as an Assistant Professor for prelicensure nursing students, teaching OB, Peds, Psych, and Transcultural nursing, and now as an Adjunct Professor/Distance Education Instructor for the RN to BSN students at UNCP. She is a previous board member and former Vice President of the S.E. Regional Genetics, Inc. group. Lori is the facilitator of a Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Group in Florida, and has special expertise and interest in the area of perinatal bereavement family support, as well as Palliative Care initiatives.
