Monitoring and Evaluation
Biomarkers to Monitor

Regular monitoring of clinical and nutritional status, to determine adequacy of nutrient intake, response to treatment, and to guide modifications in the dietary prescription, is central to management of individual with PROP.

TABLE #7, Monitoring the Nutritional Management of Well/Stable Individuals with PROP Monitoring the Nutritional Management of Well/Stable Individuals with Propionic Acidemia delineates the biomarkers to routinely monitor in individuals with PROP, as well as other biochemical parameters utilized when indicated by special circumstances. The recommendations recognize that variation in practice exists based on clinical judgment and logistical concerns, including access to laboratories and insurance coverage.
